IMD issues orange alert for heavy rain in Kolkata, South Bengal

A low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal has prompted the IMD to issue an orange alert for parts of South Bengal, including South 24 Parganas and Purba Medinipur. Kolkata and nearby districts are expected to receive heavy rainfall, strong winds, and thunderstorms until Monday. Fishermen have been advised to avoid venturing into the sea as weather conditions remain adverse.
