Import of cotton fully exempted from customs duties till September 30

The government has exempted all cotton imports from customs duties from April 14 to September 30, 2022. Currently, cotton imports attract 5% Basic Customs Duty (BCD) and 5% Agriculture Infrastructure Development Cess (AIDC). "This exemption shall benefit the textile chain - yarn, fabric, garments, and provide relief to consumers," the Finance Ministry said.
