In Kerala's 'Twin Town', 1 in every 5 persons is a twin
In Kerala's Malappuram district, a village named Kodinhi has earned global attention as India's "Twin Town". One in every five persons in the village is a twin. In a village of 2,000 families, there are estimated 400 to 550 pairs of twins. The twinning rate here ranges between 42-45 per 1,000 births, higher than India's average of 4-9 per 1,000.
