In Nagarahole, Jenu Kurubas fight to reclaim ancestral land

Fifty-two Jenu Kuruba families have returned to their ancestral land in Karnataka's Nagarahole Tiger Reserve, decades after eviction under the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972. Asserting rights under the 2006 Forest Rights Act, they began rebuilding their village on May 5, after years of appeals reportedly fell on deaf ears - only to face a fresh crackdown.
