Income tax return filing deadline won't be extended beyond today: Govt

Revenue Secretary Tarun Bajaj on Friday said that there's no proposal to extend the deadline for income tax (I-T) return filing for the Assessment Year (AY) 2021-22 beyond December 31, 2021. "Income tax return filing is going on smoothly. By 3pm today, 5.62 crore returns have been filed in total," he added. Over 20 lakh returns filed today, he added.
