India and Japan signed a MoU on Saturday according to which, Varanasi will be developed into a 'smart city', by using the experience of Kyoto, the 'smart city' of Japan. The pact which was signed soon after Modi's arrival in Japan, provides for cooperation in heritage conservation, city modernization and cooperation in the fields of art.
