Independent Hindu candidate wins in Godhra's Muslim-majority ward

Apekshaben Naineshbhai Soni, an independent Hindu woman candidate, has secured a victory from Godhra's Ward Number 7, a constituency where majority of the voters belong to Muslim community, said NDTV. Soni reportedly built her campaign around grassroots issue. Notably, BJP secured a sweeping victory in Gujarat local body elections 2026, winning all 15 municipal corporations in the state.
