India aims to double waterway freight share to 12% by 2047

Union Minister Sonowal outlined plans to raise coastal and inland waterway freight from 6% to 12% by 2047 via the Coastal Cargo Promotion Scheme. He also announced a ₹1,500-crore Puri International Cruise Terminal and targets 1 million cruise passengers by 2029 under Cruise Bharat Mission, generating 560,000+ jobs.
