India’s 1st interim govt was formed on this day

The first interim government of India was formed on September 2, 1946 and lasted till the country got independence on August 15, 1947. The cabinet of the government headed by Sir Archibald Wavell, the Viceroy of India, became the executive branch of the interim government. Free India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru served as the Vice President in this government.
