India auto registrations rise 27% in March, highest since 2022

India’s automobile industry is headed for its strongest March performance since 2022, with total vehicle registrations at 1.254 million units between March 1-17, as per Vahan portal data. This marks a 27% jump from the 9,92,000 units recorded during the same period last year. The momentum led by strong demand in 2-wheeler EVs also lifted Nifty Auto Index by 2.22%.
