India backs UN call for US to lift sanctions on Cuba
India voted in favour of a UN resolution calling on the US to end its economical and financial sanctions against Cuba, joining 129 other countries at the UNGA. The annual vote, held for the 34th time since 1992, is non-binding on the US. Washington first imposed economic sanctions on Cuba in 1960, expanding them into a trade embargo in 1962.
