India becomes 1st country in world with entire fauna checklist

India has become the first country in the world to prepare a checklist of its entire fauna, Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav said on Saturday. The checklist covers over 1.04 lakh species. With this, India has positioned itself as a "global leader in biodiversity documentation", he added. He also launched the Fauna of India Checklist Portal.
