India becomes 3rd country after US, China to launch private orbital rocket

India on Saturday became the third country after the US and China to achieve private orbital launch capability following Vikram-1's launch. The rocket, India's first privately built orbital launch vehicle, is built by space startup Skyroot Aerospace. The rocket lifted off from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota and injected its payload into a 450-km orbit.
