India becomes 3rd-largest generator of wind, solar power: Report

India surpassed Germany to become third-largest producer of electricity from wind and solar energy in 2024, a report by Ember's Global Electricity Review said. The wind and solar together generated 15% of global electricity last year, in which India's share stood at 10%. Low-carbon sources such as renewables provided 40.9% of the world's electricity generation in 2024, the report added.
