India builds world's highest motorable road in Ladakh at 19,300ft

The Border Roads Organisation has constructed the world's highest road at Umlingla Pass in Eastern Ladakh at an altitude of 19,300 feet. The 52-km-long tarmac road has beaten Bolivia's record of 18,953 feet. "The road has been constructed at an altitude higher than the Mt Everest Base Camps...in Nepal," the government said.
