India caps sugar dealer stock to curb festival hoarding

India has capped sugar dealer stock at 1,000 quintals from October 15 to November 30, 2026, to prevent hoarding during the festive season. Dealers must sell stock within 15 days. Retail sugar prices have fallen 15% since August, with steeper cuts at the mill level.
