India could export 60 lakh tonnes of sugar despite WTO ruling: Officials
India could sell over 60 lakh tonnes of sugar worldwide this year, trade officials said. This comes after World Trade Organization (WTO) panel ruled that India violated international trade rules when it offered excessive subsidies for the production and export of sugar and sugarcane. "There's...no impact of order...with regard to Indian sugar exports," ISMA's Director General Abinash Verma said.
