India-EU move closer to trade deal as proposal reaches European Council

European Commission has moved proposals for the India-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA) to the European Council, marking a crucial step toward the landmark deal. After the council's approval, the agreement will require the consent of the European Parliament before it can come into force. Under the agreement, 96% of EU goods exports to India would see tariffs eliminated or reduced.
