India faces 46% rainfall deficit as El Niño delays monsoon revival
India recorded only 45.6 mm of rainfall by June 20 against the seasonal normal of 84.4 mm, resulting in a 46% shortfall, According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). This comes amid El Niño conditions, weak moisture-carrying winds and the absence of supportive atmospheric systems. IMD is expecting a monsoon revival by the last week of June.
