India gives Bangladesh envoy Dinesh Trivedi Cabinet-rank status

India's High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Dinesh Trivedi, has been granted Union Cabinet Minister-equivalent status in the Table of Precedence for ceremonial functions. The Ministry of Home Affairs clarified that the move is personal to him and does not amend the Table of Precedence. This comes as India resumes accepting tourist visa applications from Bangladeshi citizens from June 28.
