India halts China-linked Alipay+ integration with UPI over data concerns: Report

Indian authorities have stalled China-linked entity Alipay+'s proposal to link with UPI for cross-border transactions over national security and data privacy concerns, Reuters reported. Alipay+ had proposed linking with UPI to enable Indian travellers to make payments in China, Hong Kong and South Asia. Government cited "political grounds" for stalling plan, amid lingering geopolitical tensions.
