India has changed four education ministers since 2014, beginning with Smriti Irani, who served as Minister of Human Resource Development (MHRD) from 2014 to 2016. Prakash Javadekar took over the ministry until 2019. Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank', who handled the ministry until 2021 before Dharmendra Pradhan took over, oversaw the renaming of MHRD to the Ministry of Education.
