India heads for 3rd driest June in a century, monsoon deficit reaches 42%
India is set to register its third driest June in the past 100 years, with the nationwide monsoon rainfall deficit standing at 42%. The country has received 92.2mm of rainfall so far this June, below the normal 157.7mm for the month. Only 2009 (87.5 mm) and 2014 (92.1 mm) recorded lower June rainfall totals, according to historical data.
