India hit FY26 fiscal deficit target, credit ratings improving: FM Sitharaman

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that the Centre has met its FY26 fiscal deficit target, with the deficit at 4.4% of GDP. She added that India's credit ratings have improved and the government aims to lower the debt-to-GDP ratio to 50% by 2030. Sitharaman contrasted India's debt levels with several advanced economies, where debt exceeds 200% of GDP.
