India must become the 'Laboratory of the World': Anupriya Patel

Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Anupriya Patel said India must move beyond its role as the "Pharmacy of the World" and become the "Laboratory of the World" by focusing on research, innovation and AI. Speaking at IIMA Healthcare Summit 2026, she highlighted role of AI in drug discovery, diagnosis and personalised care while stressing safe, responsible and patient-focused use.
