India needs Uniform Civil Code: Karnataka HC to Parliament, state legislatures

Karnataka High Court has said India needs a Uniform Civil Code to achieve the objective of Constitution's Article 14, urging Parliament and state legislatures to enact it. The court stated, "When under Hindu Law a daughter is given equal status and right in all respects enjoying rights as that of a son, the same is not so under Mahomedan Law."
