India opens ₹15,000-crore race to build 5th-generation stealth fighter jet

Government has issued Request for Proposals for development and production of five prototypes of Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft, India's indigenous 5th-generation stealth fighter aircraft programme. The bidders are Tata Advanced Systems Limited, Larsen and Toubro plus Bharat Electronics Limited and Bharat Forge plus Bharat Earth Movers Limited. Estimated cost of the project is ₹15,000 crore.
