India plans to let AI agents make small UPI payments: Report

NPCI is preparing a framework that would let AI agents make small payments over the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) without requiring approval for every transaction, Reuters reported. The Unified Agent Protocol is likely to be unveiled next week at the Global Fintech Fest in Mumbai. Groceries and other frequent, low-value purchases are likely to be among the first use cases.
