India purchases 73,000 rifles from American company Sig Sauer

The Ministry of Defence has placed an order for 73,000 SIG716 rifles from the American company Sig Sauer. Deliveries are expected to be completed by end-2025. A defence official said that the contract was signed in June 2024. The Army had purchased the same rifle earlier in February 2019 as well.
