India ranks 151 among 180 nations in Press Freedom Index 2025

India has risen to position 151 from 180 nations in the World Press Freedom Index 2025, published by Reporters Without Borders (RSF). This is a gain from its position 159 in 2024 and 161 in 2023, which shows incremental but perceptible improvement in media freedom levels. The UNESCO flagship event this year takes place in Brussels on May 5–7.
