India's 1st ever LNG powered rail engine launched in Gujarat
Indian Railways has operationalised its first-ever LNG-diesel dual-fuel DEMU train at Sabarmati in Ahmedabad, marking a significant step toward greener rail transport. By replacing about 40 % of conventional diesel with Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), the train aims to cut emissions, lower fuel costs and improve air quality along routes, and it has successfully completed extensive trials.
