India's 1st private gold mining project set for launch in Andhra

India's first private gold mining project, the Jonnagiri Gold Project in Andhra Pradesh, is set to launch in May 2026. Developed with ₹400 crore investment, it aims to produce up to 1 tonne of gold annually over 15 years. The project could reduce India's heavy import dependence, boost domestic mining, and mark a major shift toward private sector participation.
