India's 1st transwomen disaster rescue squad formed in Maharashtra

The Kolhapur District Disaster Management Authority has trained and formed a rescue team with ten transwomen under the "Friends in Disaster" programme. That batch is the first of its kind in the country and spent 10 days practising rescue drills at the Rajaram Lake. The district has trained 15 transwomen so far, with fresh rounds held every three months.
