India’s capital faces a menacing climate double blow
A new study by researchers from IISER Bhopal and MANIT Bhopal shows that a compound dry-and-hot climate increasingly grips Delhi. High temperatures and rainfall deficits strike simultaneously. Analysing high-resolution TerraClimate records from 1958 to 2023, they show that these combined hazards shifted from rare occurrences before 2000 into a surging, near-annual reality in the 21st century.
