India's EV charging electricity consumption rises 72% in FY26

Electricity consumption at India’s public EV charging stations rose more than 72% in FY26, signalling increased EV usage. Both private and commercial EVs contributed to the rise. Uttar Pradesh emerged as a surprise entrant, with its share of pan-India electricity consumption by EV charging stations rising from below 1% before FY24 to 5.12% in FY26.
