India's freight network becomes operational 20 yrs after project was approved

India's freight rail network connecting the Eastern and Western Dedicated Freight Corridors became operational on Tuesday, nearly 20 years after approval. PM Narendra Modi explained that separating passenger and freight traffic would allow 430 cargo trains to run daily, and it would reduce a 30-hour truck journey to just 10-12 hours. This move will save time and fuel.
