India's self-reliant solution: Scindia on 'Emergency Alert'

After the government sent 'Emergency Alerts' to crores of users on their mobile phones, Union Minister for Communication, Jyotiraditya Scindia, called it "India's self-reliant solution". "[It] can reach every village, town, and region, including the Himalayas, coastal areas, and the north-eastern highlands...[to] ensure the safety of India's 140 crore population during any disaster," he said.
