India's solar power generation rises 138% in 4 years

India's solar power generation increased by 138% over four years, rising from 73.48 billion units in FY22 to 174.76 billion units in FY26. Solar's share of total electricity generation nearly doubled to 9.50%, while renewable energy now accounts for 52.6% of installed power capacity. Between April and June FY27, solar generated 62.79 billion units, contributing 12.03% of overall power.
