India's unemployment rate falls to 6-month low in August

India's unemployment rate among persons of age 15 years and above fell to a six-month low of 5% in August, according to the latest government data. Rural unemployment fell to 4.1% from 4.5% in July, while urban unemployment remained almost stable at 6.8%. The overall labour force participation rate rose to 55.6% from 55.4%.
