India's unemployment rate hits 6-month high at 5.2% in April

India's unemployment rate has risen to a six-month high of 5.2% in April, as per the Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) monthly bulletin. The increase was driven mostly by the rural segment, with male employment rising to 4.7% from 4.4% in March and 4.1% to 4.4% for females. Meanwhile, urban female unemployment dropped to a one-year low of 8.5%.
