India's unemployment rate rises slightly to 4.8% in December

India's unemployment rate rose slightly in the month of December 2025 and stood at 4.8% compared to 4.7% in November. The rural unemployment rate was at 3.9%, while the urban unemployment rate increased to 6.7% from 6.5% in the previous month. Overall labour force participation rate was observed at 56.1%, whereas female labour force participation climbed to a yearly high.
