India signs contract for 72,400 Sig Sauer assault rifles

Defence Ministry on Tuesday signed a contract to procure 72,400 Sig Sauer assault rifles under fast-track procedures for the Indian Army. Aiming to modernise the infantry, India has signed the contract with the United States for the assault rifles. The US firm will have to deliver the rifles within a year, Defence Spokesperson tweeted.
