India slams sexual violence as weapon of war at UN

During a debate at the UN, India strongly condemned the use of sexual violence in conflicts. India's Permanent Representative to the UN said sexual violence continues to be used as a weapon of war, terrorism and political repression. He advocated deploying women peacekeepers to tackle conflict-related sexual violence, citing example of India's all-women police unit sent to Liberia in 2007.
