India spends over ₹5,900 cr every year to clean up littered tobacco products: WHO
The cleaning up of littered tobacco products costs India $766 million (over ₹5,900 crore) every year, the World Health Organization (WHO) has said. WHO estimated the cost of total litter from all product waste in India is about $8 billion. It said around 9.57% of this goes towards cleaning tobacco products' litter.
