India supports UN's call for direct Taliban-Afghan govt talks

India has supported the UN's call for direct talks between the Taliban and the Afghan government. "It's the Afghan people who will implement and bear the consequences of any agreements arrived at. Hence outcomes having...political mandate and (which) are arrived at in an inclusive and democratic way alone can ensure stability," India's Permanent Representative to the UN, Syed Akbaruddin, said.
