India to boost shipbuilding for Aatmanirbhar maritime future

Indian government is enhancing shipbuilding and repair capabilities to become self-reliant in the maritime sector, said Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Secretary TK Ramachandran. Despite port infrastructure developments, India's share in global shipbuilding remains low. The Ministry's focus on Aatmanirbharta aims to boost maritime industry, targeting a USD 237 bn opportunity by 2047.
