India to build 40-km underground rail corridor along 'Chicken's Neck'

India is planning to build a 40 km underground railway corridor along the strategically important Siliguri Corridor, known as the 'Chicken's Neck,' to ensure secure connectivity with northeastern states, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said. Calling it "important from a security point of view," an official added that one of the lines would connect towards Bagdogra, a key air defence hub.
