India to cut imports of low-quality items from March 2021
Sub-standard and non-essential imports will be curbed from March 2021 after the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) frames mandatory quality standards, Consumer Affairs Minister Ram Vilas Paswan said. "The commerce ministry has identified 371 imported tariff lines, including Chinese products," BIS Director-General Pramod K Tiwari said. Product samples will be tested at the port itself, Tiwari added.
