India to take away Meta's intermediary status amid child sexual abuse content row

The Centre is considering labelling Meta as a service provider rather than an intermediary service, reports said, citing government sources. Centre said platforms charging for algorithms can't be intermediary and must take responsibility for their services. Meta reportedly admitted mistake over ads related to child sexual exploitation and agreed to report child abuse content directly to India.
