India urges US to reconsider proposed 12.5% tariff linked to forced labour claims

India has formally asked the US to reconsider its proposal to impose a 12.5% tariff on Indian goods, rejecting allegations that it has failed to prohibit the import of products made with forced labour. India has also offered to engage in dialogue with the US Trade Representative (USTR) to address any specific concerns. The proposal has not yet been finalised.
